Cleo Rose Elliott is a talented singer, songwriter, and model. She rose to prominence at 24 when her debut solo single, ‘No More Lies,’ became an immediate smash. She has since released many tracks and established a reputation in the music business. However, the singer is well-known for more than simply her songs. Cleo has been in the spotlight from the day she was born. She is the daughter of Oscar-nominated actor Sam Elliott and his actress wife, Katharine Ross.
Cleo’s connection with her mother is strained despite being the only daughter of the famous couple. Katharine also obtained a restraining order against her daughter Cleo.
Cleo was accused of stabbing her mother at least a half-dozen times.
Katharine said in the restraining order filed in March 2011 that her daughter Cleo was aggressive as a youngster and became violent when she was 12 or 13 years old. “[Cleo] verbally and emotionally abused me as a child, but became progressively aggressive when I was 12 or 13,” The Graduate actress revealed.
Their feud became public when Cleo allegedly slashed Katharine with scissors, and Katharine filed a restraining order against her daughter. According to the 81-year-old actress, her daughter suddenly lost her fury and started muttering, “I want to murder you.” Cleo then kicked the closet door shut, and when Katharine attempted to call the police, Cleo severed the phone cord with scissors. Cleo threatened her with the scissors but stabbed her six times in the right arm.
“[Cleo stabbed] with enough power to penetrate my flesh through my clothing, leaving me with wounds that are still evident today,” Katharine said in her statement.
Following that event, Katharine requested a protection order, and the court scheduled a hearing on March 30, 2011. Cleo was ordered to keep at least 100 yards away from her mother’s house, office, and automobile until the hearing. Nonetheless, it is still unknown what motivated Cleo to stab her mother.
Cleo’s Mother-Daughter Relationship Seems to Be Improving
Cleo, 36, and her mother had a memorable experience, but it now seems they have put all the bad blood between them. The mother-daughter duo has been seen together at several events and award presentations, indicating their relationship is improving. They were photographed together at the red carpet event for the film The Hero, which starred Cleo’s parents, during the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. During the occasion, she was questioned about her parents by an interviewer.
Cleo said that her parents were both highly accomplished performers, which made her very proud. Cleo and her mother, Katharine, were seen together again on September 24, 2018, at the premiere of A Star Is Born. They were also seen together at the 91st Annual Academy Awards when both were smiling and highly pleased.
