In 2016, actor Jay Mohr filed for divorce from his wife Nikki Cox twice in less than six months. After nine years of marriage, he filed for divorce for the first time in July 2016, alleging irreconcilable differences in paperwork. According to People, the couple had a prenuptial agreement that contained spousal support stipulations. However, the actor called it off just six days after filing the divorce papers. “We are extremely wedded, very in love, and that’s all there is,” the actor told People after requesting that his earlier plea be dismissed. Mohr’s decision to withdraw his divorce request did not last long, as he allegedly filed for divorce from his wife for the second time in December 2016. As he did last, he said in the filings that the two were divorcing owing to irreconcilable differences.
Jay Mohr accused his wife, Nikki Cox, of having drug and mental health problems.
Mohr said that his ex-wife, Cox, struggled with both substance and mental health concerns a few months after filing for divorce for the second time. In doing so, the former Saturday Night Live cast member asked for exclusive physical custody of their son, Meredith Daniel Cox Mohr, whom they welcomed in 2011. He also requested shared legal custody, with Cox being granted “appropriate visitation with Meredith, which will be carefully supervised.” The actor also claimed in the new filing that he and his ex-wife “have continued to dwell in the same house” with their kid despite filing divorce papers in December.
However, he said their “living situation has become incredibly complex and intolerable; therefore, our youngster is suffering.” According to the filings, “I had no option but to secure other accommodation for myself and our kid due to the escalating animosity in our house, Nikki’s continued reluctance to address her mental health issues…her drug misuse, and her inability to respect boundaries.”

Nikki Cox planned to kill herself.
Mohr said in court filings filed in March 2017 that Cox repeatedly begged him to transport her to the Universal Hilton, a hotel in Los Angeles, so that she could commit herself. Besides that, the actor’s ex-wife, a well-known actress, reportedly came to the guest bedroom in the middle of the night, where the actor stayed while the pair was split and sought to “seduce” him. She even informed him she thought she was pregnant with another kid, which was incorrect.
“Nikki informed me in January (2017) that she believed she was pregnant. Because I am azoospermic, this revelation indicated that either a miracle had occurred, Nikki had been pregnant by another guy, or she was lying. “She assured me that it was mine,” the actor said in a statement. Meanwhile, she made terrible mothering judgments and was less concerned about the couple’s kid. Despite residing in the same home, she reportedly did not engage with her kid for many days. In the end, Mohr’s plea was granted in August 2018 following some divorce files and charges against Cox. Their agreement, however, was kept secret.
