He is well known for his roles in the 2018 film Crazy Rich Asians as Oliver Tsien, Nick Young’s trendy cousin, and Superstore’s Mateo Liwanag. 42-years-old Santos moved to Oregon as a youngster and fell in love with theater. He worked in retail for several years before going to Los Angeles to pursue comedy. That’s when he fell in love with acting. After coming to LA, he “did Chelsea Lately within two years.”
In a phone conversation with Vulture, he explained his actual calling:
“But it was doing the CBS Diversity Showcase that really got me into acting. My manager encouraged me to audition, and I got in as a writer.”

Santos earned the part of a homosexual undocumented Filipino immigrant in Superstore in 2015, and he hasn’t looked back since. On December 10, 2018, he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series by Critics’ Choice Television. His fiancé, a comedian Zeke Smith, has amazed everyone with his survival abilities on Survivor — Millennials vs. Gen X (2016) and Game Changers (2017). “Creative consultant on and contributor to the Netflix documentary Disclosure: Trans Lives on Screen,” his website says.
Smith, from Oklahoma City, graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Religious Studies. Theology and biblical exegesis were his research interests. He dabbled in musical theatre as a kid. He was a top policy debater in high school. Moreover, he joined the Upright Citizens Brigade in his twenties. Smith dated Santos for four years before proposing to him at the 2022 GLAAD Media Awards on Saturday night. A new chapter in their life awaits them, and they are eager.
