Jeezy: Early life, Birthdate, Birthplace

Jay Wayne Jenkins is the real name of Young Jeezy. On September 27, 1977, he was born in Columbia, South Carolina. His parents were not married then, and they divorced shortly after. Jenkins was raised by various family members throughout his childhood. Jay Jenkins later stated that this was a bad experience for him. Although many family members contributed to Jenkins’ upbringing, his mother significantly influenced his upbringing.

Jenkins experienced poverty at a level that many people can only imagine as a child. During this time, hip-hop music became one of the few positive aspects of his life, and a career in music appeared to be one of the few legitimate ways for him to get out of squalor. Jay Jenkins, on the other hand, was drawn to crime. Soon after, he became involved with the Crips, a powerful American gang. His criminal activities included the sale of illegal drugs and black-market cellphones.

Jenkins was sent to the Youth Challenge Academy (YCA) after being arrested for narcotics possession because he was too young to be incarcerated. Jenkins appears to have benefited from the boot camp because he left with a renewed sense of purpose. Instead of continuing his criminal career, Jenkins decided to start his own.
