Yoo Hee- yeol’s Sketchbook is a well-known and respected conversation program, will tape its last episode on July 19 and air it on July 22, 2022. The show’s presenter, Antenna Music label founder Yoo Hee-yeol, and KBS announced the show’s demise after 13 years of service to the Korean music business. The last show, No. 600, will wish the viewers goodbye.
The announcement comes only a few weeks after the iconic 51-year-old singer was embroiled in a plagiarism scandal. He was accused of stealing Aqua by Japanese artist Ryuichi Sakamoto for Very Personal, one of his recent piano project series tracks.
A few days after the incident erupted, Yoo Hee-yeol apologized for the unintentional plagiarism. Despite the fact that the Japanese singer issued an official statement stating that the Korean star did not plagiarize his work, Yoo Hee-yeol has opted to leave the program and “take time to reflect” on himself.

Yoo Hee-Sketchbook, yeol’s a legendary talk show, will film its final episode on July 19.
Yoo Hee-Sketchbook yeol’s debuted in 2009, more than a decade ago. The program is a cross of music and chat shows, with 3-4 guests, mostly musicians, appearing on each episode. The musicians converse with the varied host while performing their tunes. For Korean artists, the event became a rite of passage. Yoo Hee-yeol announced the end of the Sketchbook talk show after 13 years on the air. In a personal letter, the singer addressed the controversy and stated that he would like to take a break after suffering a setback to his decades-long career as a result of it. An extract from his letter read as follows:
“For the first time, I looked back on myself after observing the influx of instances.” The most distressing thing I heard was that the time that had gone seemed like it was being denied. It’s to the point where I can’t comprehend how severe the feeling of loss is.
There is one aspect of the recent plagiarism claims with which I disagree. Many of the claims may be personal opinions and interpretations, but I find them difficult to believe. I will take better care of myself so that a situation like this does not develop again.”
He thanked the show’s fans and employees for their enjoyment and hard work throughout the 13 years and three months it was on the air.
He also said that he intends to conclude the last recording of Yoo Hee-Sketchbook yeol’s as soon as possible in order to minimize any potential damage to the beloved program. He apologized and took a bow at the conclusion of the letter.
“We want to complete the final recording this week in order to minimize the impact on the program and the production crew.” I will do all in my power to [complete] my remaining tasks so that no additional harm is done. Without turning away, I will take the opportunity to think about where I am now and what remains to be done. I apologize once again for creating anxiety to all music lovers. Finally, I bow my head in thanks to everyone who has put their confidence in me and valued me for so long.”
The KBS production team also released a statement saying that the last episode of Yoo Hee-Sketchbook cheol’s would air on July 22, 2022. They also praised the fans for their unwavering support for Yoo Hee-Sketchbook yeol’s over the last 13 years.
