Wolf was born in Augsburg, Germany, on March 22, 1948. He, too, is 76 years old. During the post-World War II Allied occupation, he was born to Cesia and David Blitzer. His father was a home builder, while his mother was a stay-at-home mom. His parents were Holocaust survivors from Nazi-occupied Poland’s Auschwitz concentration camp. He covered both American politics and Middle East developments throughout his tenure there.

In the mid-1970s, Wolf was the editor of the Near East Report, a monthly publication of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).
