Willie Geist began his career as an editor and producer for CNN Sports. He then became the channel’s field producer and correspondent. He used to cover the Super Bowl, NCAA Final Tours, and The Masters at the time. Moving ahead, in late 2007, he joined MSNBC as a co-host for the 6-9 a.m. time slot. In September 2007, he was named co-host of NBC News’ Morning Joe, a morning news and conversation program.
Later, in July 2009, he presented Way Too Early with Willie Geist, a weekend morning program. The next year, he took over as Today’s host, succeeding Matt Lauer.
