Tyson Venegas, 17, is poised to amaze the judges on American Idol season 21, which premieres on ABC on Sunday, the 19th, where Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie will select which auditionee advances to the Hollywood week round.

Tyson Venegas, a Filipino-Canadian singer, is originally from Vancouver and competed in season 2 of The Voice Teenagers Philippines when he was 14 years old. At the age of seven, he won the Canadian talent show, the PNE Star Showdown, and the distinction of youngest prize winner. He also received $5000 in cash, which he used to pay for trumpet, piano, jazz, and vocal lessons, and he used his title to meet his hero artist Michael Buble.

Eli Holzman, Aaron Saidman, Jennifer Mullin, and Megan Michaels Wolflick are producing the season. After the tryouts in Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Nashville, judge Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie will decide who qualifies for Hollywood week and other challenges.

Auditionees who obtain a golden ticket will advance to the next challenge, Hollywood Week, while Platinum ticket winners will be allowed to bypass the first round of Hollywood Week. The final 24 singers will be allowed to compete in live challenges against each other and collect public votes to win American Idol season 21 after several clashes. The producers have not disclosed the season’s financial award, although the previous season’s victor won $250,000.
