Al Harris’ wife, Shyla Harris, has four children with the former NFL star. They’ve been married for 16 years, but Al has never revealed anything about his personal life. Harris was married before meeting Shyla, and in one interview, Shyla recalled having a stepson with the former Green Bay Packers star. The former cornerback was selected in the sixth round in 1997. He had played for the Philadelphia Eagles before joining the Packers in 2003. He played eight seasons with the Packers before moving on to the Dolphins and St. Louis Rams for one season apiece.
Harris started his coaching career with the Dolphins in 2012, having previously coached the Kansas City Chiefs for six seasons. In 2020, he became the Dallas Cowboys’ defensive back coach. However, with Dan Quinn departing the Cowboys to become the Commanders’ head coach, the defensive coordinator post remains open. Many people feel that nobody could be a better match than Al.
Get to Know Al Harris’ Wife, Shyla Harris
Shyla Harris, Al Harris’ wife, has maintained a low profile. The pair is not active on social media, however, it was previously reported that they married in March 2007. In 2009, Shyla and other Green Bay Packers spouses were interviewed. The interview is no longer online, but a gossip website user had previously saved and shared the item.
According to the interview, Shyla is from Pompano Beach, Florida. The journalist asked Shyla how Green Bay compared to her hometown, and she said that she liked Green Bay. She described the residents in Green Bay as friendly and hospitable. Shyla said that Green Bay is a very family-oriented community, and their support for the team is evident. When asked how she met Al, Shyla said that her husband and elder cousin attended the same high school and played football. One night, she was out with her cousin when Al saw her.
Al didn’t realize they were relatives, so he believed Shyla was dating her cousin. However, they promptly corrected him, and Shyla’s cousin presented her to the player. The rest was history. Shyla was studying sociology at the time and informed the interviewer that after graduation, she planned to pursue a nursing degree. When asked about her favorite Packers memory, Shyla mentioned her husband. It was when Al returned an interception to win the 2003 Wildcard Playoff Game between the Packers and Seattle.
Al and Shyla’s Kids
Al and his wife, Shyla, have four children: Lyla, Al Junior, Gavin, and Gage. In the same interview, Shyla claimed that Al Jr was her stepson. Al Jr attempted to follow in his father’s footsteps but never made it to the NFL. He played defensive back at St. Thomas Aquinas High School before attending the University of South Carolina.
Al Jr. played 12 games as a freshman cornerback, starting four of them. He made 21 tackles and broke up three passes. Harris Jr. made 25 tackles in 10 games during his sophomore year. He moved to Jacksonville State University for his junior year, although nothing is known about his time there. Al Harris Jr was believed to have signed with the Green Bay Blizzard of the Indoor Football League in 2021, however, he is no longer on the roster. The remaining three children of Al and Shyla remain out of the limelight, and nothing is known about them.
