Deborah, according to Altman, was a caring, powerful, and independent woman who taught him all she knew, including basketball. Deborah, a University of North Carolina graduate, had been enamored with basketball since college and had become a New York Knicks devotee. Koby inherited his mother’s passion for games and began playing basketball at a young age. Koby attended Middlebury College after graduating in 1999, where he was a point guard for the basketball team. He never played professional basketball, however.
