Who Is Marlene Beasley? Meet Terry Beasley Wife: Relationship & Kids Detail

Terry Beasley

Terry Beasley’s wife, Marlene Beasley, was married to the retired football star for 27 years. Terry went unexpectedly on January 31, just as the couple was about to celebrate their 28th anniversary. Marlene and Terry did not meet in an ideal setting. Terry was her patient when he first came to the mental institution where she worked as a nurse in 1992. However, their relationship became stronger, and they chose to become lifelong companions. Terry Beasley, an Auburn icon, rose to prominence in football circles as a result of his struggle with the NFL.

Beasley, a two-time All-American, suffered from many concussions during his playing career. His partnership with Auburn Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Pat Sullivan has become a well-known story among football aficionados. The former 49ers player’s death is being examined as a possible suicide. Beasley was inducted into the College Hall of Fame in 2002, and Auburn retired his jersey number 88, alongside Sullivan and Bo Jackson.

Terry Beasley’s Wife: Marlene Beasley

Terry Beasley’s wife, Marlene Beasley, initially met the former NFL player back in 1992. Marlene, a mental nurse, did not want to fall in love with Terry, but they soon started dating. In an interview, Marlene said that the two connected immediately. Terry had been sent to the mental institution after a series of concussions that had made his life unbearable.

Terry had two rounds of electroconvulsive therapy in the hospital, each with 18 sessions. The discomfort used to be severe, and Beasley feared it was more harmful than beneficial. In February 1996, the couple married on the 50-yard line at Jordan-Hare Stadium. After being mistakenly diagnosed with a brain tumor, Marlene decided she didn’t want her boyfriend to suffer alone, so she became his life companion. Terry and Marlene sued the NFL in 2012, along with hundreds of other athletes, in a Georgia Northern District Court. In 2016, the litigation was resolved.

When asked how her husband felt after learning they had won the case, Marlene said, “He just closed his eyes and laid his head back on the pillow.” This has been a long, stressful struggle.” During her interview with the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, Marlene also expressed her wish that the NFL would be held accountable for what it did to the young men, claiming that those in charge of the league had no remorse. At the time, Marlene said that the money would be used to purchase the medications and provide Terry with the necessary physical assistance. After marrying Terry, Marlene abandoned her work to care for him.

Terry Beasley’s children previously spoke out publicly about their father’s worsening health in 2013. Trenton Beasley, his son, made a Facebook message informing others of his father’s condition. Trenton disclosed in 2013 that his father spent most of the week in the intensive care unit at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. He published a Facebook post requesting that everyone pray for his father’s rapid recovery. Trenton claimed in the now-deleted Facebook post that his sister, Terry Beasley Varner, was by his side, caring for their father.
