Malik Heard, a former The Voice candidate, will participate in American Idol season 21.
Malik Heard, an American Idol season 21 candidate, earlier participated in The Voice season 10 in 2016, when he was only 19 years old. He sang Chains for his Blind tryouts, which helped him dazzle Pharrell Williams and Christina Aguilera while Blake Shelton and Adam Levine did not move their seats. Blake stated after his act that he was happy Malik was on the program and that he had to choose between the other two judges.
He went on to say:
“Pharrell is about to be handed his b*tt right now.”
Even though he didn’t know what would happen and intended to stay out of it, Adam Levine immediately promoted Pharrell Williams to the current American Idol season 21 competitor, saying he was great. Christina informed Malik that she realized something extraordinary was going on when she heard “some of those accurate, amazing runs,” and that she believed the two of them would make an excellent combination.
She went on to say:
“I’d like to share my thoughts; get inside your head; I truly believe we can do this together.”
When Pharell Williams inquired who his inspirations were, Malik mentioned Sam Smith, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, and others. The Happy artist went on to say that he would deliver those types of tracks with either of the judges because he is a composer rather than a musician and that he would love to be a part of Malik’s path. The American Idol season 21 candidate eventually selected Christina Aguilera as his coach, and his most notable performance was in the Battle Round when he sang It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World with Byran Bautista. While Bryan won the round, Malik achieved a quadruple grab and had the opportunity to choose his instructor once more. He joined Pharrell Williams’ squad but was ousted in the following round.
Malik Heard was born in Dallas, Texas.
