On Monday, September 26th, NBC’s The Voice returned for another fantastic episode. Coaches Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, John Legend, and Camila Cabello sat back down to compete for the greatest vocalists on their respective teams. Since The Voice Season 22 debuted, fans have seen a host of brilliant applicants apply for a seat in the popular reality singing competition. Madison Hughes was one of the contestants that walked the stage and auditioned this week.

The 25-year-old Florida native sang her own version of Bob Dylan’s Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door, adding a distinctive touch to her performance. Despite the fact that it took some time for the coaches to click their buttons, Hughes was able to convince three coaches to turn their seats for her.

Coach Gwen Stefani was the first to hit the button for Madison Hughes, followed by her husband, Blake Shelton. Coach Camila Cabello also hit her button for Madison at the conclusion of Hughes’ performance. Stefani and Cabello both said that they wanted to collaborate with the candidate because she was a “melting pot” who was open to all genres. Hughes ultimately chose Shelton as her coach for the remainder of season 22. Despite the fact that she was not a normal country singer, the artist said that he would be able to assist her as a coach. The Voice candidate has published roughly ten tracks that can be listened on Spotify during the course of her career. Her most recent hit, Meet Me In The Woods, has over 275,000 listens on the music app. Every month, she has over 34k unique listeners.

Madison Hughes has had an interest in music since she was a child.

Hughes talked about how she fell in love with music early in her childhood in a small documentary she developed and uploaded on her YouTube page. Hughes said in the documentary Pick of Destiny that she has been singing and dancing in her living room at any given moment since she was a child. When she was in fifth grade, The Voice candidate learned to play the guitar. It all began when she and her father began taking guitar lessons with Michael Bennick. She went on to say that she couldn’t have had a finer upbringing.

Madison Hughes attended Berklee summer camp while she was in school.

Hughes also noted in her little documentary that growing up, she felt happy and thankful to be able to do what she liked and that she had many chances to do so. The Voice candidate said that she attended Berklee College of Music summer camp and took guitar lessons every year. Hughes can also play the harmonica and mandolin. She was a member of the chorus and the theatre club in high school. She went on to say that she enjoyed anything artistic.

When The Voice participant finished high school, she relocated to Washington, DC to work as a video editor on Capitol Hill. She sobbed in the restroom on her first day, knowing this was not what she wanted to do. She eventually resigned from her job and began freelance work. This allowed her to work and pursue her passion for music at the same time.
