Gary and Kenya Kennedy initially met at a comedy club in Los Angeles. According to Kenya, the program included black comedians including Gary Owen. He was the show’s sole white performer, and he received a standing ovation for his efforts. Kenya returned to the club with her pals after a few days and was unimpressed with his performance.

Kennedy’s father alleged in March that a Delta employee racially profiled her mother, Kenya, while she waited to board a trip from Cincinnati to San Francisco. The gate agent questioned her mother whether she was in first class since she was a black lady in the priority line. As she responded yes and inquired if the agent would ask the guy behind her the same question, their agent nodded and stated NO since he was a white man. Following her father’s appointment as a pilot, the airline issued a statement.

Gary Owen, Kennedy Owen’s father, was seventeen years old when he joined the navy.

Gary Owen, Kennedy Owen’s father, joined the navy at the age of seventeen and served for six years. When asked what attracted him to the military, Gary said that he grew up in a trailer park and that the recruiter came to his trailer. He claimed he might get him out of there by next week if he signed on the dotted line.
