Dave Parker regards his wife, Kellye Parker, as his greatest support system and pillar of strength. The pair has been married for over four decades and is still going strong. Dave Parker is a retired professional baseball player who had a good career in Major League Baseball. From 1973 to 1991, the right fielder played for several MLB clubs, including the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds, Oakland Athletics, Milwaukee Brewers, California Angels, and Toronto Blue Jays.
He won two World Series championships, with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1979 and the Oakland Athletics in 1989. Dave Parker, the 1985 NL RBI leader, has been happily married to Kellye Crockett for more than 39 years. Parker and Crockett exchanged wedding vows on February 14, 1984. He lovingly refers to Kellye as “my rock,” and she was instrumental in helping him overcome his cocaine addiction. They are the delighted parents of three children. Kellye Parker attended the University of Cincinnati. She also gave her time to help at Christ Emmanuel Christian Fellowship. Kellye and Dave also purchased Popeye’s fried chicken restaurant in Cincinnati. Before Kellye, Dave Parker was married to Stella Miller Parker.
Street Renamed in His Honor
The former baseball star, nicknamed as “The Cobra,” has earned a huge accolade in the area where he grew up. His desire to play on the field originated as a boy in the South Cumminsville community, near Borden and Elmore streets. Today, a boulevard named after him honors his efforts.
“It’s a complete circle. He’s been ecstatic since he heard about it. Dave’s wife, Kellye Parker, said, “He’s always worked hard, and it’s great that he’s being recognized in his hometown and neighborhood.”
Furthermore, Dave has been open about his continuing struggle with Parkinson’s disease. His diagnosis in 2013 has had an effect on his speech and motor abilities, but it hasn’t diminished his love for the people and place he still calls home. Dave and Kellye founded the Dave Parker39 Foundation, which aims to educate the public about Parkinson’s disease. In addition, they have successfully generated significant amounts to improve the lives of those living with Parkinson’s.
