Kason Lester

The Voice is back with a new season and a new group of performers eager to wow the judges with their acts. The structure of Season 23 of the singing competition will be similar to previous seasons, with judges Blake Shelton, Chance The Rapper, Niall Horan, and Kelly Clarkson turning their seats and including the performers in their teams if they are pleased by the singer’s sound.

One of the contestants in particular may sound recognizable to the judges and viewers. Kason Lester is a singer from Lebanon, Tennessee. He has many tracks, including Born and Bred, and was most recently seen on American Idol season 17 in 2019. He made it to the Honolulu Round of the tournament, finishing in the top 40.

Kason Lester, a The Voice candidate, has a sizable follower base on TikTok.

Kason Lester is a fruit grower who ran a 200-acre property named Lester Farms with his sibling at the time of his American Idol tryouts. He is also involved in angling, according to his Instagram account, which presently has over 39K followers. Lester graduated from Belmont University in 2017 with a degree in music management and production. He wowed the American Idol judges in 2019 with his rendition of Chris Janson’s Embrace Her. Katy Perry complimented Kason’s performance and predicted that he would finish in the top ten.

However, he was removed from the competition in the third round, along with vocalists Clay Page and Johanna Jones. Following the performance, he published several versions of tracks such as Post Malone’s Take What You Want and The Beatles’ Come Together. Love You Yet, Lester’s original country tune, has over 350,000 Spotify plays. In 2020, he published Invisible, another original. Kason disclosed in a 2019 interview with The Wilson Post that he had always been a music fan, composing and performing tunes in secret for a long period. He went on to say:

“I attempted other things, different paths, but it always led back to this, my passion of music and composing.”

Kason is also a Tik-Tok celebrity, with over 52.6 million fans and 296.3 million views as of the drafting of this piece.

According to NBC’s season description:

Originally, the candidates will conduct secret tryouts in which the evaluators will only be able to hear the performer’s vocal and then determine whether or not to invite the competitor to join their squad for further stages, which include:

  • Battle Rounds
  • Knockouts
  • Playoffs
  • Live Performance Shows

If more than one evaluator is interested in having the talent join their squad, the vocalist will choose their own mentor. On Monday, March 6, watch NBC to see if Kason Lester can join the teams of any of The Voice mentors.
