Ser Criston Cole is played by Fabien Frankel in House of the Dragon. During the first episode of the program, titled The Heirs of the Dragon, he was seen briefly as a competitor. On August 21, 2022, it was released.
Ser Criston Cole was characterized by HBO as:
“Ser Criston is a ferocious Dornish knight of common birth, the son of the Lord of Blackhaven’s steward. Noble in attitude, his combat skill rivals even that of Prince Daemon.”
House of the Dragon is a Game of Thrones spin-off and prequel based on George R.R. Martin’s novels. It follows the Targaryen family, who had an important part in the Game of Thrones series, which chronicled Daenerys Targaryen’s rise and demise. The current drama takes place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and 172 years before the birth of Daenerys.

Fabien Frankel on his House of the Dragon character Ser Criston Cole
Fabien Frankel is an English-French-Iraqi actor who appeared in the HBO drama Ser Criston Cole. While little is known about Frankel’s acting career, he has featured in episodes such as NYPD Blue, The Serpent, and An Uncandid Portrait. He also appeared in the 2019 romance comedy Last Christmas. Criston Cole was the champion in a jousting contest in House of the Dragons, which functioned as a guidebook to introduce people and define the setting.
Frankel revealed that Criston Cole’s character would appear in more than one episode during an interview with TV Line. Frankel described the character as “brave” for pursuing the favor of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen after overcoming her uncle, Daemon Targaryen, in a jousting contest.
He stated:
He strikes me as a brave person. And, being from a low-income household, I believe there is certainly a sentiment.
Frankel continued:
In a world of blonde wigs, you have a dark-haired guy with different-colored skin than everyone else. So, I believe there is a sense of solitude. As a result, he gains a certain amount of confidence, allowing him to beg (for the Princess’ favor).
Cole’s history as a commoner was mentioned by Frankel. He is from Dorne, a nation where the House of Martell and the Lannisters had strained ties in the Game of Thrones series. Dorne’s mention also puts to mind one of the series’ most savage fights, between Oberyn Martell and Gregor Clegane, called the Mountain. It’s unclear how Frankel’s Ser Criston Cole will be sent to the House of the Dragon.
