On ABC4 Utah, Elise Kristine discusses her American Idol season 21 tryout.
Elise Kristine, a 19-year-old student at Utah State University, is set to compete in the final tryouts of American Idol season 21. Kristine recently went on ABC4 Utah to speak about her “unreal” experience applying for the program.
She went on to say:
“You stroll in and it takes your breath away. It’s an enormous space, and the evaluators are ecstatic.”
During the conversation, she stated that she couldn’t speak about the tryout, but she did reveal how she was selected for the program. Elise claimed she was discovered on the internet. The American Idol season 21 candidate also stated that she posts a lot of videos of herself performing on Instagram and Tik Tok, which she began during Covid because she had nothing else to do. She went on to say:
“A lady approached me and asked, ‘Yo, do you want to audition for American Idol?'” and I said, “He*k yeah.”
According to Elise, going on the show requires a process, so she had to send a video tryout to the show’s directors and execs and then wait. She eventually heard from the show’s organizers and was asked to perform for the judges in Las Vegas. When questioned about the tryout, the American Idol season 21 contestant stated that the experience was surreal and that she doesn’t recall half of what happened. She went on to say:
“I’m going to watch the audition and think, ‘I have no idea what the hell I did.'”
While Elise did not reveal the music she will perform on Sunday’s show, she did say that her approach is “pop, R&B, Jazz.” She went on to say that she can perform in a variety of styles and that she grew up doing a lot of musical theater. Elise also mentioned that she had no clue how the evaluators would respond. She stated that she believes she performed well and spoke positively about the evaluators, characterizing them as “glowing.”
