Brooks Calbert Robinson Jr. (May 18, 1937 – September 26, 2023) was an American baseball legend. He was known as “the Human Vacuum Cleaner” or “Mr. Hoover,” and he established himself as the finest defensive third baseman in Major League Baseball history. Robinson’s effect on the game was enormous over his long career with the Baltimore Orioles from 1955 to 1977.
His defensive skills created records that have survived the test of time, including an astounding 16 straight Gold Glove Awards. He was a driving factor behind the Orioles’ rebirth, contributing to four AL pennants and two World Series championships in addition to his superb fielding. Diana Farley is the daughter of renowned Brooks Robinson and Constance Louise “Connie” Butcher. Her parents also had three additional children, Brooks David, Christopher, and Michael Robinson, in addition to Diana. Diana’s parents originally met on an Orioles team aircraft in 1959. Constance was working as a flight attendant for United Airlines at the time, and their fortuitous encounter happened on a trip from Kansas City to Boston.
Diana is married to Wayne Farley, with whom she has three children: two girls and a boy called Grant Farley. Grant is now pursuing a Bachelor of Political Economy degree at Duke University. He also plays collegiate soccer there. Previously, the young athlete attended the elite Gilman School. Diana keeps a secluded existence, avoiding the public limelight.
