Don Gullett’s wife, Cathy Gullett, has been married to the baseball star for 54 years. When the couple married in 1970, they were still teens. The Cincinnati Reds told the tale of Gullett’s death, which occurred at age 73. The reason for the death of the three-time World Series champion pitcher, Gullett, has not been discovered.
Gullett was drafted out of McKell High School and made his Cincinnati Reds debut the following year. He was a member of the Reds club that won the first of two consecutive World Series championships. Gullett’s career terminated at age 27 due to a shoulder injury. The Reds enshrined him into the Hall of Fame in 2002. The late baseball player served as a Reds instructor throughout the 1990s and 2000s. He spent the previous 13 years as a bullpen and pitching coach until being sacked in 2005.
Don Gullett’s wife, Cathy, and children
Don Gullett initially met his wife, Cathy Gullett (née Holcomb), while attending McKell High School. Cathy was a cheerleader at McKell, where they met at the age of sixteen. The pair married in 1969, two years after their first encounter. A few months later, in 1970, Don astonished everyone at the Cincinnati Reds spring training camp and made the big league team.
Don was having a happy marriage with his wife, Cathy, while also being considered a success with the Reds. The two had settled into an apartment in Northern Kentucky and had three children. On August 11, 1971, Don and Cathy had their first child, Don Gullett Jr. The couple’s oldest kid followed in his father’s footsteps and pursued a career in their favorite sport. Don Gullett Jr., a graduate of Shawnee State University, started his coaching career at Northern Kentucky University. During his time at NKU, the team won three GLVC Conference titles.
He then became the Northern Kentucky Bandits’ head coach, leading the club to the 2004 CABA World Series championship. Since 2001, Gullett Jr. has been teaching all ages one-on-one and working as the Camp Coordinator for youth camps ages 6-18. Before taking over as head coach at Turpin High, Gullett Jr worked as a general manager at 5 Star Midwest. In 2019, he was named Coach of the Year after leading Turpin to its first winning season since 2012. Don Gullett’s two daughters, Tracey and Angela, are not in the public eye. Angela is active on Facebook and has uploaded a few family photos.
