Who Are Wayne And Sherry Middaugh? Meet Kelly Middaugh Parents

Kelly Middaugh grew up in a household that was very involved in sports. Curling is in her blood, as both her parents have had tremendous success in the sport. Her father, Wayne, has an amazing record as a three-time world champion, something no one else has accomplished, having won championships in three separate positions.

Her mother, Sherry Middaugh, has also made her mark in curling. She has won five Ontario championships and one Saskatchewan title. Kelly, born on August 2, 1999, in Victoria Harbour, Ontario, Canada, is now the leader of Algonquin College’s Team Laurie St-Georges. Her curling career started at the age of ten when she grudgingly joined a Sunday youth curling league. Despite her initial reservations, she persisted with it for three to four years.

Kelly went on to Wilfrid Laurier University and excelled in curling. he had great success while representing the Golden Hawks, finishing sixth in the U Sports tournament and was named a first-team All-Canadian. Kelly attended Wilfrid Laurier University and participated in two U Sports/Curling Canada University Curling Championships. In addition to curling, Kelly earned an undergraduate degree in Global Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University before enrolling at Algonquin College.

Kelly was raised in an athletic household. Kelly’s parents, Wayne and Sherry, were also curlers, and her younger sister, Emily, curls with the rest of the family. Her mother, Sherry Middaugh, is a curler from Victoria Harbour, Ontario. She has had much success in curling. She has won five Ontario championships and one Saskatchewan title. Middaugh, a Saskatchewan native, won the 1986 Saskatchewan Junior Women’s Championship and represented the province in the 1986 Canadian Junior Women’s Curling Championship, where she tied for fourth place with a 6-4 record. Currently, she coaches Team Hollie Duncan.

Aside from curling, Middaugh is a businesswoman who runs her own 4M Home & Garden firm. She is married to fellow curler Wayne Middaugh, who boasts the distinction of winning the Canadian Men’s Curling Championship (Brier) in three separate positions: skip (1998), third (2012), and second (1993). Robert Wayne Middaugh, born on September 20, 1967, in Brampton, Ontario, now lives with Sherry in Victoria Harbour, Ontario. He is the general manager of Port Carling Golf & Country Club and a PGA of Canada golf professional.

Kelly Middaugh’s sister, Emily Middaugh

Kelly’s sister Emily, who is 20 years old and four years younger than Kelly, has excitedly taken up curling, as has been the family custom. She is a member of the U21 Ontario team, who just won the Junior Curling Cup. During the holidays, she also finished second with Team Grace Cave in the Canadian Junior Cup, earning herself a curling trip to Switzerland.

Emily experimented with a variety of sports before deciding on curling. However, the friendly and welcoming attitude of the curling community eventually pulled her in, making it impossible not to carry on the family tradition.
