Tanner Mordecai is an American football quarterback. He was born to Micah and Leann Mordecai. Mordecai attributes all of his sports accomplishments to his parents’ encouragement and support. Tanner Mordecai, a star quarterback, started his career at Midway High School. He threw for 4,797 yards and 51 touchdowns on 334 completions out of 567 attempts.
His skill drew the attention of the University of Oklahoma, where he pledged to continue his football career. Mordecai wore the Oklahoma Sooners uniform from 2018 to 2020, appearing in 12 games. Mordecai moved to Southern Methodist University (SMU) in 2021 in search of a new start. During his career at SMU, he appeared in 24 games and was named to the American’s All-Conference Second Team. Tanner Mordecai announced his intention to continue his scholastic career by transferring to the University of Wisconsin on December 30, 2022.

Tanner Mordecai, an American football quarterback, was born on November 8, 1999, to parents Micah and Leann Mordecai. Micah Mordecai attended Texas A&M University and eventually developed a thriving chiropractic business in Waco. Meanwhile, Leann Mordecai, who grew up in the same neighborhood, went on to become a radiology technician. Their paths crossed in the hospital, eventually leading to their marriage. The couple now lives in Waco after being married for nearly 26 years and having three children.
Their family has a strong athletic tradition, with all three children succeeding in collegiate sports. Their oldest daughter played softball at the University of Kentucky, and their second daughter did the same at Midwestern State University.

Tanner Mordecai’s youth in Waco was strongly entwined with athletics. He found himself always on the go while growing up near Baylor University and attended Midway High School, watching his sisters’ softball games and finally carving himself a football career. Micah felt at ease in this athletic setting because of his family’s experience in collegiate athletics and his father’s professional tennis background. Despite their athletic achievements, the Mordecai family prioritized essential principles.
Prioritizing academics and cultivating self-reliance were two ideas that stood out. Micah and Leann developed a rigorous attitude in which homework came first. The siblings soon recognized that homework assistance was limited; they were pushed to comprehend topics on their own, creating in them a feeling of responsibility. Tanner Mordecai’s football ambitions grew, and this foundation proved helpful in guiding him through the recruitment process and keeping him grounded despite rising scrutiny.
