Dave Canales was born on May 7, 1981. He is the third child of his father, Isaac, and mother, Ritha Canales. Dave’s parents had an important part in establishing his beliefs and religion, eventually leading him in the correct direction. His father, Isaac, who had a difficult life, developed polio at a young age and almost died, leaving his right arm with little function. Despite growing up in the worst neighborhood in Los Angeles, his father ultimately attended Harvard.
After graduation, he went home to lead the Misson Ebenezer Family Chruch, which Dave’s grandparents, Rev. Miguel and Lupe Canales, established in 1959. After nearly four decades as a senior pastor, Dave’s father retired, and his brother, Josh, took over. Furthermore, Dave’s mother, Ritha, is an assistant pastor and works in the church’s human resources department. Nonetheless, the family sincerely follows God’s values, and based on their beliefs, they speak about the Lord’s magnificence.
About His Two Brothers, Josh and Coba
Dave Canales, a native of Harbor City, California, grew up with his elder brother, Josh, and younger brother, Coba. Interestingly, all of them have a background in athletics. Dave’s brother, Joshua Brubaker Canales (born January 15, 1979), called Josh, formerly played college baseball for the UCLA Bruins.
Despite being picked in the 2001 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers, he never made his big league debut. Instead, he replaced his father as head pastor when he retired in April 2019. In his personal life, he is happily married to his Nigerian-American wife, Bunmi. The two embrace parenting and have three children: Elisha, Judah, and Adelola. They initially met at UCLA’s sports training facility, where she competed in track and field.
Similarly, Dave’s brother, Jacob Canales (born April 22, 1984Carley Johnston and Brock Wright’s Relationship Status), called Coba, is a former NCAA football and baseball player. He initially committed to the University of Pennsylvania but then switched to Azusa Pacific University. Coba has a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies and a doctorate in education. He now serves as Dean of Students at Azusa Pacific University, his alma school.
