Seattle Seahawks football safety Julian Love’s parents were the first ones to introduce him to football.
Julian’s father, Detaiter, recognized his natural athletic abilities when he was only eight years old. Julian’s interest in the sport grew over time, and he now plays football safety for the Seattle Seahawks in the National Football League. Julian grew up in Westchester, Illinois, and attended Nazareth Academy in La Grange Park, Illinois, where he excelled at both defense and offense.
He played football for the University of Notre Dame before being drafted by the New York Giants in 2019. Love had an impact as a defensive player, recording several memorable interceptions. In March 2023, he signed a two-year contract worth $12 million with the Seattle Seahawks. In the 2023 season, Love continued to demonstrate his talent, most notably intercepting a pass thrown by P.J. Walker in Week 8, which helped the Seahawks defeat the Cleveland Browns.
Julian Love’s Parents Are Father Detraiter and Mother Ivonne Love
Julian Love comes from a family that has a strong athletic background. His parents, Detraiter and Ivonne Love raised three children, all of whom have demonstrated exceptional athletic ability from an early age. Julian’s older sister, Devinne, was the first in the family to pursue athletics at Nazareth Academy, where she started playing basketball.
Later, their mother, Ivonne, introduced Julian to football. Devinne’s interest in the sport began when he joined a co-ed flag league at the age of seven to play alongside Julian, who was then five years old. In an interview, Ivonne stated that during Julian’s first year of football, she focused primarily on Devinne, who excelled in her games.
They soon discovered Julian’s natural talent for sports. Julian’s father, Detraiter, has basketball experience. He attended Wentworth Military Academy and Junior College in Missouri before beginning his career in the hospitality industry. He has advanced in this field, demonstrating his abilities and experience in positions ranging from assistant front office director and event manager to hotel manager.
Julian Love’s sister, Devinne Love
The football safety has two athletic siblings. Devinne Love, the oldest sister, was the first in the family to play football, beginning with flag football in Chicago’s Portage Park League. Her participation in the sport influenced her younger brother, Julian Love, who also played flag football at Portage Park from the ages of six and nine. Devinne eventually decided to pursue a different career path and is now a Key Account Manager at Meeting Tomorrow.
She graduated from Nazareth in 2014 and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Marquette University. She also holds a Master of Science in Global Strategic Communication. Devinne is currently married and prefers to keep her personal life private. Julian’s younger brother, Michael Love, also plays football. Michael was born on June 5, 2001, making him three years younger than Julian. Michael, like his older brother and sister, developed an early interest in football. He was a standout athlete at Nazareth Academy, serving as team captain in both his junior and senior years. He even received the 2018 Suburban Life Player of the Year award.
