Where Is Rae Carruth Now? What Is He Doing

Rae Carruth

When Rae Carruth was at the height of his NFL career, he was a household name. However, he is now just a disgraced football player who was convicted of a crime. In the 1997 NFL draft, Carruth was drafted by the Carolina Panthers and signed a four-year contract. In November 1999, he was just beginning his NFL career, and everything went downhill from there.

He received an 18-year prison term, which will run out in 2018. Even though he is now a free man, the stigma of having been a felon still hangs over him.

The Conviction Story by Rae Carruth

Michelle Wright was Carruth’s first baby mom. Raelondo was born while he was a Colorado sophomore.

Wright sued him for child support because he was reportedly an absent parent. They agreed to pay $2,700 in child support and improve his parenting. Carruth later dated Cherica Adams. Also pregnant with Wright’s child. When she was eight months pregnant, their relationship deteriorated. Carruth and Adams went to the movies on 11/16/99. They returned in two automobiles.

After they split, Adams was shot four times. Despite her injuries, she informed police her baby daddy shot her. “He halted in front of my car,” she told them. After the report, the Chancellor was delivered by emergency C-section. Chancellor survived, although he was born with cerebral palsy and a brain injury. Adams didn’t survive. After the crime, Carruth was wanted for $3 million bails. After a nationwide manhunt, Carruth was apprehended in 1999.

He hid in a car’s trunk at a Tennessee Best Western. His prosecution revealed he hired Watkins to kill his baby’s mother, who refused an abortion. The former player was convicted of murder conspiracy, firing into an inhabited building, and trying to kill an unborn child two years later. He was acquitted of first-degree murder but given 18 to 24 years in jail. After 18 years in prison, he was released on October 22, 2018.

What Is Rae Carruth Currently Doing?

Carruth and a friend relocated to Pennsylvania after he was released from prison. As of this writing, he is said to be working from home and has undergone a dramatic transformation.

Additionally, he wants to rekindle the relationship he has had with his son for years. His mother, Saundra, received a large sum of money from him in 2019. Because it was an anonymous check, Saundra, the woman who raised the Chancellor after her daughter was murdered, had no idea who had sent it. Carruth, on the other hand, had sent it, as she later learned. Despite not admitting to Adam’s murder, the ex-NFL player admitted that he felt responsible for everything. Carruth and the other conspirators have earned Saundra’s forgiveness, despite everything that’s transpired.

The Chancellor is also doing well. The fact that he suffers from a long-term illness hasn’t slowed him down in any way. In 2021, he received his high school diploma and moved in with his grandmother, where he now resides.
