The Weeknd, on the other hand, confirmed that he would be away again this year a couple of weeks ago.

Despite his decision to boycott the Grammys, The Weeknd was nominated for the award. In fact, he was nominated for three awards this year.
The Weeknd is featured on Kanye West’s song Hurricane, which received the first nomination. The second and third awards are for appearances in West’s Donda and Doja Cat’s Planet Her, respectively.

Why Is The Weeknd Not Attending Grammys
When he was not nominated for a Grammy last year, The Weeknd decided to boycott the ceremony. His album After Hours was a huge success, but it was not nominated for best album.
The singer was irritated by this and did not hesitate to criticize the Grammys for it. The Weeknd wrote in a tweet at the time, “The Grammys remain corrupt.” You owe it to me, my fans, and the industry to be transparent…”
Did The Grammys Respond To This
Harvey Mason, Jr., president of the Recording Academy, decided to speak out in response to The Weeknd’s remarks.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, he stated, “We understand that The Weeknd is disappointed that he was not nominated.” I was taken aback and can understand how he feels. His music this year was excellent, and his contributions to the music community and the wider world are admirable. We were ecstatic when we learned he’d be performing at the upcoming Super Bowl, and we would have loved to have him also perform on the Grammy stage the weekend before.”
