Tommy Clufetos has been a fixture on the rock scene for many years. Most casual rock fans are familiar with him from his time with Black Sabbath. He is, nonetheless, well-known among diehard rock enthusiasts. Clufetos began his career as a drummer before the age of ten. And he’s still going strong, having released a solo album in the midst of the epidemic. His family has always been an important part of his life, and he included a few relatives in his solo effort. His father and daughter also contributed to making the album even more unique.
Tommy Clufetos’ father instilled music in him
Clufetos, as previously said, began his musical career at a young age. He may credit his father, Tommy Clufetos Sr., for that. He began drumming before most kids finished kindergarten, on December 30, 1979, in Detroit, Michigan. He received his first set of drumsticks when he was six years old.
After then, life was essentially a balancing act of music and school — he went to Rochester Adams High School and performed music whenever he could. He joined his father’s band as soon as he could play properly. He did this throughout his life phases, and he went to school with just a few hours of sleep each night.
After a time, he relocated to Los Angeles, where he began his professional career, studying with Ozzy Osbourne and Ted Nugent. However, his musical adventure started with his father. When asked what inspired him to pursue music in an interview with Relics Magazine in May 2021, he named his father and family as his major influences. He wisely incorporated him in his most recent solo effort. Tommy’s RockTrip: Beat Up By Rock’ N’ Roll, his debut solo album, was published in 2021. ‘Power of Three,’ a song on the album, The song is the most unique on the record. One explanation is that his father is playing saxophone in the song.
Life of Tommy Clufetos and His Wife and Daughter
June Grace, his daughter, is the second reason ‘Power of Three’ is unique. The five-year-old, dubbed Junebug, contributes vocals at the conclusion of the song, pronouncing the alphabet as the song draws to a close. The song, which is an homage to his family, her daughter, and having her, is appropriately titled ‘Power of Three’ since it incorporates three generations of his family.
“She likes the song; she’s proud of it,” Clufetos remarked in a May 2021 interview with Joel Gausten. “I wish she can have this present and this little love nursery song that her papa created for her when she grows up.”
‘Make me Smile,’ another song from the album devoted to a family member, is for his wife, Casey Clufetos. “It’s custom-built for her,” he said about the song to Misplaced Straws in May 2021. He and his wife met on Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip and married at an unknown later date. You may have to listen to the song to find out how it transpired.
“I’m not good at writing Valentine’s Day cards or buying amazing flowers or doing small romantic things,” he said of why he penned a song for her. “So I wrote her a seductive, bluesy rock tune to compensate,” he said to Live Metal. He said he used to play the music anytime she was upset with him, and it worked every time.
