Tom Green Was Diagnosed With Testicular Cancer

Tom Green

Tom Green’s career was at its pinnacle in the 1990s and early 2000s. He had his own MTV program, The Tom Green Show, and directed his first film, Freddy Got Fingered. Similarly, he has appeared in films such as Charlie’s Angels, Shred, and Stealing Harvard. From July 7, 2001, until October 15, 2002, he was married to Drew Barrymore. However, between his MTV series and film roles, the actor appeared in just a few movies in the early 2000s. Many people were left wondering, “What happened to Tom Green?” Unfortunately, he was suffering from major health concerns at the time.

Tom Green was diagnosed with cancer

In March 2000, Green was diagnosed with testicular cancer. When he knew he had the condition, he kept it to himself and did not inform anybody. He sought medical advice and had minor surgery. However, after being diagnosed with testicular cancer, he had the diseased testicle removed. The physicians wanted to know whether or not the cancer cells had spread. As a result, they advised Green to have his lymph nodes removed in order to understand more about the spread.

The removal of the lymph nodes was a major procedure that would leave him bedridden for many days. The actor then chose to notify the world about his disease. In a December 2000 interview with ABC News, he said that he was “very worried out, afraid, and unhappy.” When he made a choice, his buddies were there at his home. They hoped that a presentation about his illness would raise awareness and aid individuals suffering from testicular cancer. As a consequence, on May 23, 2000, he released The Tom Green Cancer Special, an hour-long MTV special. Cameras were permitted into the hospital where the star had his operation. The procedure was shown graphically in the MTV program.

Green received a lot of praise for sharing his difficult experience with his fans and followers. Fortunately, his cancer had not spread, and he recovered completely. In a 2017 interview with Vulture, the actor discussed his battle with cancer and surgery. He stated he hadn’t spoken much about it since the operation more than a decade ago. He did, however, say that it took him about ten years to recuperate. Moreover, he was in a lot of discomfort, and the hormonal readjusting had taken its toll on him. He stated that he had to work hard to get to where he was now. Regardless, he said that he was happy and content with himself.
