Career
Timo started his professional ice hockey career in 2012 as a junior with the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers of the Elite Jr league. The Halifax Mooseheads picked him 12th overall in the 2013 CHL of Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Import Draft the same year. He was chosen Mooseheads captain for the 2015-16 QMJHL season. He was a member of the club until the 2015-2016 season. Meier was moved to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on January 6, 2016.
On July 8, 2015, Timo was signed by the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL). The San Jose Sharks picked him ninth overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. He agreed to a three-year entry-level deal with the club. Timo made his NHL debut with the San Jose Sharks against the Montreal Canadiens on December 16, 2016, during the 2016-17 season.
