Homolka, 52, testified against her ex-husband, Paul Bernardo, in 1993. Prior to this, she had requested full immunity in exchange for her cooperation and honesty, but she had been denied. Instead, she was given two options: testify against her partner and face a 12-year sentence, or face manslaughter and rape charges. As a result, she chose the first option and spent 12 years in Kingston, Ontario’s Prison for Women.
