The Drag Queen Bob Claims That Her Voice Has Not Changed After Having Throat Surgery

Bob

Bob the Drag Queen has undergone substantial life changes since her stunning triumph on RuPaul’s Drag Race, including a throat operation that she has been candid about. The drag queen, born Christopher Caldwell, originally appeared on RuPaul’s Drag Race during the ninth season. Bob won over the crowd and Ru with her humorous abilities and contagious charisma. She won three challenges before taking home the main championship. On May 16, 2016, she has crowned “America’s Next Drag Superstar” and awarded a $100,000 cash prize. The drag queen’s life has changed dramatically after her great triumph. She presented the HBO reality show We’re Here, which included former RuPaul’s Drag Race winners Eureka O’Hara and Shangela. The winner also had throat surgery, which she discussed in her Get Out interview.

Throat Surgery Of Bob the Drag Queen

In late 2021, the drag performer had surgery. She did not disclose the reasons behind her choice, but rather her life following the treatment. During an interview with getting Out, Bob stated that she looked different since she hadn’t been grooming herself and admitted that she only shaved her beard before performing. But this was due to her recovery from throat surgery. When asked how she felt about her new voice, she said, “Well, not yet.” I’m still recovering, but I can communicate. To be honest, I haven’t explored the limitations of my voice yet, and I’m a bit terrified.”

Trixie Mattel, a fellow drag queen, disclosed on her blog, Unpaid Spokeswomen, that Bob’s voice had altered following the operation. “She had just had throat surgery, so her typical pack-a-day gruff mumble was shockingly clear, as she welcomed me in her new, flawlessly clear mezzo-soprano,” she wrote. After she had recovered, the drag queen appeared on Instagram Live while doing makeup to appease everyone’s curiosity about her new voice, iterating that it had not altered significantly.

Bob the Drag Queen Discusses New Voice

Bob also discussed the voice change on her Sibling Rivalry podcast with co-host Monét X Change. When asked how she liked her new voice, Bob said she liked it a lot, but that the not-talking portion after surgery was tough. The drag queen claimed that since she was not permitted to speak after her treatment, her two lovers, Jacob Ritts and Ezra Michel, could only interact with her via lip reading and hand signals. However, Michel and Ritts were so awful that Bob became fatigued and yelled at times.

“I attempted to communicate something to Jacob and Ezra a few times, but they couldn’t read my lips.” “I told Jacob I loved him, but he didn’t understand, so I pointed at my eye, then my heart, then at him, but he was like, ‘u need me to fetch you water or something,'” Bob said.

Eventually, the Drag Race champion yelled at him, “I love you.” Monét X Change chided Bob that it was definitely her fault since her lips were “so large.”
