These problems were exacerbated following his third divorce. He feels that by coming out about depression, he can help alleviate some of the stigma associated with the condition.
Despite this, his anxiety attacks prevented him from ever returning to a Steelers game following his retirement. These panic attacks also prompted him to skip the funeral of team founder Art Rooney.
