Ted Vernon was born on New York’s Long Island. Harold Vernon, his father, was a real estate developer, so he grew up in a well-established family. At the age of ten, he witnessed his parents’ divorce, which left him mentally disturbed, and he was committed to a mental institution for the Lobotomy procedure.
His temperament deteriorated in his adolescence as he fought in high school, causing him to transfer to at least seven different schools. During this time, he joined his school’s wrestling team, which sparked his interest in wrestling.
