About Stanley Myers

Stanley Myers, a Swansea native, is the third Military Judge for the South Carolina Army National Guard and the state’s first African-American to occupy this position. Stanley Myers is a military judge, Moore Bradley Myers’ managing partner and attorney, and a Lieutenant Colonel in the South Carolina National Guard.

He has various high-ranking titles, but when asked how he prefers to be addressed, he says “just Stanley.” He attributes his humility to his family and roots in the Swansea and Calhoun County regions.

Myers’ dedication earned him an athletic scholarship to The Citadel, where he now serves on The Board of Visitors. As a four-year starting quarterback for the Bulldogs, he set multiple records. While he admits his Citadel record does not compare to his high school record, his stay at the military college proved significant.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the Citadel in 1998. He earned his J.D. from the UDC David A. Clarke School of Law in Washington, D.C. in 2003.

Because of his siblings, Myers has always aspired to be an attorney. “I have two older brothers and an older sister,” Myers stated. “They are 12, 13 years my senior. Every day, I would come home from school and the shows that would be on were either Matlock or Perry Mason so I guess, to some degree, I sort of naturally just said, ‘Well if I want to be something, maybe I need to be a lawyer.’ ”
