He attended Cochrane-Fountain City High School and received a Bachelor of Science in agriculture from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 1989. He received his Master of Education from the University of Minnesota in 1994.

Steve Drazkowski is a gun safety educator for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, a Wabasha County 4-H volunteer, and the previous president of the Minnesota Forage and Grassland Council. Drazkowski campaigned unsuccessfully for the Minnesota Senate District 28 seat in 2006.
He then campaigned for and was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in a special election conducted on August 7, 2007, when Representative Steve Sviggum resigned to become Minnesota’s Commissioner of Labor and Industry. In 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020, he was re-elected.
