Stephen Jurvetson was born on March 1, 1967, in Arizona, USA, to Tonu Jurvetson and Tiiu Tia Jurvetson. Before the Soviet Re-Occupation, Stephen Jurvetson’s father escaped Estonia and traveled through Europe. Stephen’s mother was a newcomer. They used the Estonian language, which Stephen had no desire to learn. It was kept between his father and mother as a secret language. Following the completion of his campus education, Stephen Jurvetson was hired as an R&D Engineer at Hewlett-Packard. Stephen Jurvetson worked for Hewlett-Packard for two years before moving on to become a product marketer at Apple and, later, NeXT Software.
Following his initial investment in Hotmail, Stephen Jurvetson was named one of MIT TR35’s “creative young tycoons” in 1999.
