Stacey Dash Had A Lot Of Upside Down While Growing Up

Stacey Dash

Stacey Dash, an American actress, had a difficult upbringing growing up in New York’s South Bronx district. Her young parents, Linda Dash and Dennis Dash were both heroin users. Dash never had a good home environment as a result of his parents’ addiction. So much so that at the age of four, she was forced to live with another family. Unfortunately, an adolescent in the household physically assaulted her and his parents suppressed her.

Dash was unable to discuss her story with her parents and proceeded on her own. The former television personality then discovered her parents’ drug problem when she was just 12 years old. She discovered her father’s kit and dumped it in the woods behind her grandparents’ home. When her father discovered out, he was furious and thrashed little Dash, compelling her to return the equipment. Despite her difficult background, Dash worked hard and finally forgave her parents.

Stacey Dash and Her Family

Dash evidently did not get the affection and support she desired from her parents, from whom she inherited her Mexican and Afro-Bajan ancestry. In a July 2018 interview with the Fallen State, the Bronx native confessed she has no ties with either of her parents. Her mother exposed her to drugs when she was sixteen years old. Dash struggled with addiction and existential issues as a result of this. She even confessed to being suicidal.

Things only became worse when Dash became involved in an abusive relationship. Her ex-boyfriend allegedly beat her, striking her on the breast, legs, and any other exposed portion of her body. When she escaped her abuser and became pregnant with musician Christopher Williams’ kid, she was still in the same terrible state. She was on her way to getting an abortion. The duty of parenting, on the other hand, changed her life. On October 29, 1991, Dash gave birth to her first child, Austin Williams.

Stacey Dash Apologizes to Her Mother and Father

Dash spoke to her father for the first and final time in years only a day before her son’s birth. She said in the aforementioned tell-all interview that he overdosed and was transported to the hospital. The father-daughter combo had a short but emotional talk just before he exhaled his last breath. Dash was both outraged and saddened by her father’s premature death. She said she was angry because he chose drugs over her, but she claimed to realize that he had a medical condition. She also claimed to have forgiven him.

The gifted artist then spoke about her mother, recalling a mother-daughter interaction right before she died in November 2017. Dash expressed gratitude for being able to forgive her mother on time and establish a decent connection with her, although for a short period. The mother-of-two even said that her childhood challenges taught her morals, ethics, commitment, and hard work.
