Sriya Lenka, the first Indian K-pop star, is expected to make her debut with BLACKSWAN later this year.
Sriya and Gabi are reported to be making their BLACKSWAN debuts after the departure of BLACKSWAN’s fifth member, Hyeme, was confirmed in 2020. A Korean media site reported on a probable return after an interview with Sriya Lenka. Sriya Lenka is India’s first (and perhaps only) K-pop idol. She is also the first South Asian K-pop idol. Millions of K-pop lovers in India are overjoyed and hopeful as a result of the news. BTS’s English single Dynamite, released in 2020, introduced a whole new generation of followers to the business.
Many fans were able to demonstrate their abilities online as a result of the Covid lockdowns, as many resorted to studying rigorous K-pop choreographies and honing their Korean speaking skills in order to achieve their ambitions of emerging as K-pop stars. After Hyeme quit DR entertainment after being accused of fraud, DR entertainment held tryouts for a spot as the group’s fifth member in 2021.
Sriya and Gabi were the last two finalists of Project Cygnus, and they were transported to South Korea for a two-month intensive training program. Only one of the two trainees was set to make their debut with BLACKSWAN. Cygnus, which literally means “swan constellation,” is a DR Entertainment initiative that seeks for and trains trainees to become stars like the constellation Cygnus. Sriya and Gabi are the program’s first-generation trainees, and the initiative will continue in the future.
Netizens watched the two trainees battle on social media for a chance to make their debut with the group. On May 26, the agency announced that both trainees will make their debut as the fifth and sixth members of the K-pop group. Sriya Lenka, 18, comes from the Indian state of Odisha and has been dancing since she was twelve years old. She has studied Odissi (an Indian classical dance technique from the state of Odisha), hip-hop, modern dance, and freestyle. Gabriela Strassburger Dalcin was born in Florianopolis, Brazil, and performed as Gabs with the dance ensemble Queen of Revolution. She is also a talented singer who has studied musical theater since she was nine years old.
