On June 4, the 45-year-old singer announced on Twitter that her father, William Mebarak Chadid, had suffered a “severe fall.” Shakira, the Colombian singer, stated that her father was brought to a hospital after the announcement of her breakup from her long-term companion, footballer Gerard Pique. The Waka Waka singer explained the viral video by writing:
“Guys, I’m receiving a lot of worried messages about my recent appearance in an ambulance in Barcelona. I just wanted to let you know that those images are taken last weekend (the 28th), when my father regrettably had a nasty accident and I had to accompany him in an ambulance to the hospital where he is now healing.”
Shakira admitted that she was photographed in an ambulance after her father was engaged in an accident that sent him to the hospital. The Hips Don’t Lie singer posted two photos on Twitter, the first of which was a typed-out message in both English and Spanish, and the second was a poignant, intimate picture of the diva and her father, in which she was gently caressing her father’s gravely injured face.

On June 8, the She-Wolf singer posted a video to her Instagram account in which she can be seen assisting her 90-year-old father with some “cognitive simulation” after he returns from the hospital.
In the video, Shakira is seen standing in front of her father with huge note cards, demanding that he read the sentences aloud. In Spanish, the singer reported that her father had been released, was at home, and was healing. She also thanked everyone for their help throughout this trying time.
Shakira and Gerard Pique divorced after 12 years of marriage.

“We hate to inform you that we are divorcing. We ask that you respect our privacy for the sake of our children, who are our first concern. Thank you for your patience.”
