Scott Frost New Job: Where Is He Going After Being Fired From Nebraska Cornhuskers?

Scott Frost

Scott Frost is said to be joining the Iowa Hawkeyes after being let go by the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Despite spending almost five years at Nebraska, Frost was unable to guide the team to notable wins, prompting his dismissal in September 2022. Fans are now speculating about Frost’s new employment with the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Scott Andrew Frost, born on January 4, 1975, is a former American football coach and player. The Wood River High School graduate started his college career at Stanford before transferring to Nebraska. The 1996 Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year helped the Cornhuskers win two national championships (1995 and 1997).

Scott was drafted by the New York Jets in the third round (67th overall) in the 1998 NFL Draft. He later played for the Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After his playing career, Frost began coaching at Nebraska, Kansas State, Northern Iowa, Oregon, and UCF. Throughout his coaching career, the 2017 AAC Coach of the Year has earned the AP College Football Coach of the Year, Home Depot Coach of the Year, and Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year awards.

Are the Iowa Hawkeyes Offering Scott Frost a New Job?

Scott Frost, the former head coach of Nebraska Cornhuskers Football, is reported to return to coaching sooner than planned. Furthermore, he may not be finished creating difficulties for his old clubs just yet. Despite the controversy surrounding Frost’s departure from Nebraska, he is still highly respected and might soon find work as an offensive coordinator. People believe Scott might wind up with the Iowa Hawkeyes. This would establish a rivalry between him and his old squad.

However, Iowa’s more conventional offensive approach may not seem to be a good match for Frost. The recent termination of Brian Ferentz lends credence to his chances of making the roster. This might result in a coaching change and a chance for Frost to seek retribution. Despite the reports, Scott’s decision to join Iowa is not official yet.

Why Did Scott Frost Get Fired?

Scott accepted the head football coaching post at his alma school, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on December 2, 2017. Soon after he took over as head coach, the squad had its worst football season in a row. Frost’s 2019 season began off well, but it didn’t last long. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, Nebraska’s 2020 season was reduced to an eight-game conference schedule.

Furthermore, the squad won just three games that season, defeating Penn State, Purdue, and Rutgers. Nebraska Athletics Director Trev Alberts said in 2021 that Frost would return for the 2022 season, albeit with a $1 million compensation reduction and a lesser buyout. Scott also fired four offensive coaching assistants that day. Nebraska concluded the season 3-9.

The squad never performed well during his first four seasons as head coach at Nebraska. Frost was 5-20 in games decided by 8 points or less, 10-25 in Big Ten Conference games, and 0-14 against ranked opponents. Scott became the first Nebraska head coach since Bill Jennings (1957-1961) to go without a winning season. Finally, Nebraska could not tolerate it any longer and dismissed Scott on September 11, 2022. It was the day following the Cornhuskers’ 45-42 home loss to Georgia Southern.
