Saint X, Hulu’s next thriller series, is planned to premiere on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at 12 a.m. ET. It tells the tale of Alison, a youngster who goes missing while on vacation with her family on the Caribbean island of Saint X. As Alison’s family deals with the consequences of her death, the series addresses issues of privilege, racism, and justice. Saint X, based on Alexis Schaitkin’s book, is expected to stir up the traditional argument over whether a TV series prevails over its source novella. Interestingly, after seeing the clip, many people compare Saint X to The White Lotus, which debuted on HBO in 2021.
Saint X, a Hulu original, promises to be an exciting voyage.
The trailer for Saint X depicts the Thomas family touring their resort on Saint X, a fictitious Caribbean island. During their visit, their oldest daughter, Alison, forms an odd connection with two lads at the resort, Clive and Edwin. Alison attends a social function at their resort on the final night of their trip and then goes missing. Following the finding of her corpse, two men, Clive and Edwin, are accused of her murder.
Due to a lack of proof, the police quickly rule the death an accident. However, after many years of apparently unresolved death, Emily Thomas, now an adult, determines to find out what actually happened to her sister, Alison, on the island. This trailer makes us doubt the whole concept and force us to create our own assumptions. According to Hulu’s description of the trailer:
“Through multiple timelines, the series explores how a young woman’s mysterious death during an idyllic Caribbean vacation creates a traumatic ripple effect that eventually pulls her surviving sister into a dangerous pursuit of the truth.”
Saint X is scheduled to premiere on Hulu on April 26, 2023. The first three episodes will be published concurrently, with further episodes following on a weekly basis every Wednesday. The last episode of the eight-episode series will run on May 31, 2023. Saint X will be launched on the Disney platform in the United Kingdom on June 7, 2023.
Plot of Saint X: Book vs. Series
Alexis Schaitkin’s best-selling book Saint X is full of surprising twists in the inquiry that keep the reader interested. The novel’s unsettling effect remains in the reader’s mind long after the last page is turned, creating a lasting imprint.
The difference between the trailer and the book is that in the novel, Emily, who is presented as a sister in the series, is a doctoral student who becomes fascinated with Alison’s narrative. In the novel, Alison is referred to as Claire, while her younger sister is referred to as Alison. The identities of the individuals may be changed, but Saint X director Dee Rees has ensured that the narrative remains comparable, if not identical.
