Ruben de Haas was born on October 9, 1998, as the son of Pieter de Haas and the grandson of Gerard de Haas, both Free State first-class rugby players. De Haas attended Jessieville High School and played rugby for the Little Rock Junior Stormers, one of Arkansas’s only two high school rugby teams.
