Roy Moore was born in Gadsden, Alabama, on February 11, 1947. Moore’s parents are Evelyn Stewart and Roy Baxter Moore. Moore’s father worked in construction. His dad passed away in 1967. Five siblings—two brothers and two sisters—made up his childhood.
In 1954, the family moved to Houston, Texas, and didn’t return to Alabama until four years later. The family eventually moved to Pennsylvania before returning permanently to Alabama. The Tennessee Valley Authority hires his father to begin employment. He attended Gallant High School for his education. For further education, Moore transferred to Etowah County High School. He completed secondary school in 1965.
He is accepted to the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, on the advice of Albert Rains. Moore received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1969. The politician serves at a number of locations during the Vietnam War, including Fort Benning, Georgia, Illesheim, Germany, and the Republic of Vietnam.
