Without more context, the specifics surrounding the shootout’s timeframe become highly perplexing. According to a Sheriff’s Office news release, Shirley was shot on Thursday night at a residence on Josephine Road. Capt. Jeff Caldwell said in the statement that deputies from the County police responded to reports of gunfire near the home at 8 p.m. Caldwell said that a 20-year-old woman was shot in addition to Harley. Despite early reports that the victims were shot at home, a caller reported finding them wounded with a gunshot wound at a Sheetz parking lot on Cornwallis Road. This parking lot was located around three miles north of the property.
While Ron Shirley’s kid was discovered dead at the site, the lady, who has yet to be recognized by the press, escaped with minor injuries. In addition, another individual was in the vehicle with the two other victims, but he suffered minor injuries. According to the victim’s relatives, the murder occurred in the property’s front yard. The press stated that many suspects were spotted fleeing the gunfight scene. They allegedly fled in a yellow vehicle. Jason Shirley, Ron Shirley’s brother, informed WRAL News that he would provide up to a $25,000 reward for any critical information about the late 21-year-death old’s that may aid the investigation.
The shootout’s timing
The shooting happened at 8 p.m. on Thursday, according to the police report. Meanwhile, Ron Shirley’s relatives informed WRAL News that the murder occurred during a family celebration commemorating another deceased cousin. They were releasing balloons in memory of Xavier Smith, who died in a car accident earlier this week. No motive for the killings has been discovered as of yet. The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating and requesting information on the identity of the suspects.
