Olympic Champion: Is Roman Kostomarov Still Critically Ill: A Health Update

Kostomarov’s condition worsened after being relocated to a specialty hospital in Moscow. As a result, on February 6, 2023, Kostomarov had surgery to remove necrotic tissue and avoid future cell death. During the treatment, the dead tissue from one of his legs was removed. However, the afflicted region was larger on the second leg, and the ankle was completely amputated. Due to the severity of his illness, his second foot was removed after some time.

Kostomarov was put in an induced coma after a stroke and a second brain bleed that impaired his eyesight, as previously reported. The cold was diagnosed as pneumonia, affecting his health. He awoke from his coma after some time, but physicians reported minimal improvement. Hopefully, the Olympic winner will feel better soon and will be able to share his experience with the world.
