Career
Robby receives his first electric guitar in 1982. He used to perform in various bands in college and also interned at a local radio station reading advertising for a local toilet maker. His professional career took off when he joined the rock band Beaumonts, later Monarch, in 1985. He became acquainted with guitarist John Rzeznik and percussionist George Tutuska. They named Takac the lead vocalist and bassist for their new band, “Sex Maggots.” The name of the band was changed to “Goo Goo Dolls” in 1986.
