Riky Rick died at the age of 34 on Wednesday morning. The reason for his death has not yet been revealed. In a statement provided to TshisaLIVE, his family confirmed the news, asking for privacy and prayers. According to the report:
“With great grief, the family of South African musician Riky Rick acknowledged his unexpected death this afternoon. Riky ‘Ricky’ Makhado (34) died in the early hours of this morning (February 23) in Johannesburg. He was a son, husband, father, brother, and uncle.”
The statement continued:
“He was affectionately known as Riky Rick across the world and was adored by his family, friends, and the whole entertainment business. His devotion to family, friends, and the community is highly recognized. Riky’s fostering and development of youthful musical talent is well-documented and will be remembered for the rest of his life.”

Rikhado Makhado, also known as о Zоnke and ng оtn, was born on July 20, 1987, in Waahu, оuth frса, but grew up in Ohanneburg, Gаutеng, оuth frса. Riky was an actor, musician, composer, entrepreneur, and fashion designer who attended hе оuth frсаn chооl оf оtоn cturе еdum аnd Lvе Performance. Riky, who previously performed and recorded with Bongani Fassie, gained prominence with his 2014 smash tune Nafukwa.
That same year, his single Amantombazane became a great hit. However, his first studio album, Family Values, catapulted him to the popularity he enjoyed until his death. Riky was a Boyz N Bucks member and the record company Cotton Club Records founder and proprietor. Riky’s chart-topping singles include Sondela, Boss Zonke, Stay Shining, Come Alive, Sidlukotini, and You and I. Shortly after his father’s death a few years ago, the rapper revealed to listeners of his podcast series LAB LIVE that he was suffering from severe depression and was on a “destructive road.”
