Career
During his high school years, Nash started his ice hockey career as a junior in the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL). In 1999, he drew the attention of OHL scouts while playing for GTHL. Following that, he was signed by the London Knights for two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League. While playing with London Knight, he got the Emms Family Award as the League’s outstanding rookie. The Columbus Blue Jackets picked him first overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft in the 2002-03 season.
On October 10, 2002, he made his NHL debut, scoring a goal in a 2-1 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks. He was nominated for the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s outstanding rookie that season.
