“Poor decisions do not equal a terrible guy. That’s what Bode Donavan has been informed. He’s been attempting to persuade himself of it as well, despite being halfway through a five-year sentence.”

“He has the opportunity to demonstrate this by participating in an unusual prison-release program in which inmates are partnered with firemen fighting Northern California wildfires in return for shortened terms. When Bode is allocated to the program in his remote birthplace, where all of his problems started, the fire is cranked up.”
