He began playing basketball professionally after being drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2007 NBA draft. He was sent to the Tulsa 66ers, becoming the first player to be assigned to the NBA Development League during the 2007-08 season. Later, in January 2008, he was called up to the Bucks.
He signed a four-year, $16 million deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves on September 4, 2009, but was quickly moved to the Cleveland Cavaliers on July 26, 2010. On March 15, 2012, he was moved to the Los Angeles Lakers, which allowed him to participate in the game for a longer period of time.
